14.2. Hong Kong the city

weather: fair, cloudy and partly sunny, still fairly cold. Still needed 4 layers of clothing. Being from the Valais we are not used to this kind of weather.

Today we have toured Hong Kong Island by means of a guided bus tour. Man Mo Temple. For all the candles it was difficult to see "through" the smoke screen. Chris got chased away. I did the right things: over the door step with the right foot first, know the drum and the bell 3 times, have a wish (for warmer weather).

The Peak: the tram is about the same design as the old Sierre - Montana funiculaire, just the little steeper though. It's an impressiv view from the top.

Aberdeen Fishing Village: had a tour of the doomed harbour. The government wants to tear it all down (they are not that fussy here, down it comes....) and displace the locals to make room for a luxury harbour.

Stanley Market: ohhh, before we got there we had a tour of a jewelry factory. You know what for.....unfortunately Christine could't find anything. Stanley Market is a bargain hunter paradise but you would't know what to do with the purchase  (except to learn haggling).

Aujourd'hui nous avons fait le tour de Hong Kong Island. A travers de Man Mo Temple, Le Peak, le Peak Tram (funiculaire comme Sierre - Montana, jusqu'à 45 % de pente). La vue est impressionnante. Tous ces tours comme Aminona. Attendez les Russes...... Le port de Aberdeen Fishing Village est un joli coin. Le Stanley Market ne vaut pas la peine, sauf si on aime de souvenir, T-shirt, pull etc.

Als gute Touristen haben wir heute eine Rundfahrt durch Hong Kong Island absolviert. Mit dem Bus geht alles viel einfacher. Ich glaube sogar ein GPS würde hier nicht viel helfen, denn es geht alles 2x im Kreise bis die Richtung eingeschlagen ist. Wie üblich bei solchen Veranstaltungen, wird man durch Werksbesichtigungen (Schmuck) und einem typischen lokalen Markt (nichts ohne das man nicht leben könnte) geschleppt.
