11.3.2011 Dunedin

St. Paul's Cathedral
St. Paul's Cathedral - modern finish
Dundedin Railway Station
Dunedin Railway Station
Dunedin's english approach
and yet another oldtimer "Oakland"
Weather: raining all night until about lunchtime, not too cold. Sunny afternoon.
This was the only day without driving in two weeks!

Dunedin is a Scottish city. Many names as well as the lay-out are copies of the good old place. Dunedin is the Gaelic name for Edinburgh. St. Paul's Cathedral was started in 1863, but only finished in 1971. Hence the modern end in concrete. The original part is one the few masonary churches in NZ, especially the roof with its stone finish is rare.
