Weather: gradually degrading during the day. Arrived in Wellington in heavy rain.
Our drive through the NZ farmland from Napier, via Masterton, Upper and Lower Hutt was intersting in the sense that we passed a flat highland between mountain ranges situated along the steep coast. The villages and towns are definitely built with a US midwestern feel. The poeple are also much more laid back. The day before arriving in Wellington, they experienced some tremors at Upper Hutt. The houses being practially all one storey building and built the American way (all wood) didn't show any damages. Surprisingly, Wellington has some high buildings, though not as high as Auckland.
A Masterton - un centre agriculture - le layout est similair aux villes américain. Tous en carrés. Pour nous très facile à négocier. Par contre, sans carte détaillée on est un petit peu perdu, parce que les cartes qu'on recoît ne sont pas trop claires. Heureusement nous avons un GPS. Il semble que tous le monde est prêt à recevoir les touriste. A chaque endroît il en a un muséum, une attraction ou des caves à visiter. On pourraît passer des mois, si on veut s'arrêter a chaque foix.
In NZ haben die Japaner den grössten Marktanteil am Automobilmarkt. Audi's und Mercedes oder VW sind seltener und scheinen eher für Privilegierte. Auch haben wir festgestellt, dass der NZ-Länder seine Autos viel länger fährt - siehe Bild. Wer gerne Oldtimers hat, ist hier am richtigen Ort.
