Weather: sunny and warm, showers in the evening
The Bay of Plenty got its name from Captain Cook who landed here in the 18th century. He thought that there was everything you wanted in this area. From Waihi Beach (Tauranga) we climbed the Mount Maunganui (approx. 200 m a. sea level). In the heat, quite a few steps to climb, but we got recompensated by the magnificient view. The journey to Rotorua took about one hour. We visited the Maori culltural center and its geyser, mud bath and hot cooking pots (for all this to function the temperature is about 90°C, as long as the geysers function the world will be ok. failing that the old vulcanos could restart).
Rotorua à 300 m d'altitude montre in climat différent de la plage. Il peut se produire des température autour de zéro et la neige en hiver. Entre la mèr et les "montagnes" il a l'agriculture avec tous produits souhaités, y inclus les fameux kiwis. Autre que les fermes, il y en a peut d'industrie. Les forêts sont différent des notres en tant que arbres et arbustes.
Die Neuseeländer sind "gutmütigere" Autofahrer als wir Schweizer. Praktisch alle halten sich die Geschwindikeitsvorgaben von 50 und 100, ja viele fahren sogar nur 90 ausserorts, v.a. drängeln sie nicht. Ueberholen ist hier schwieriger, denn die Hauptstrassen sind etwa so breit wie unser Ueberlandstrassen. Wir sind überrascht wie wenig Schwerverkehr vorhanden ist, weil ja das meiste was die Neuseeländer brauchen importiert werden muss. Dies wird durch die vielen Containerhäfen unterstrichen.
auch bei uns in Sri l. regnet es jeden Tag,danach scheint wieder die Sonne.
